The Anderson Family

If I had to leave all other music behind and select one composer, I would select Leroy Anderson.

I am 56 now, and while blessed, I cannot say my life has been a particularly happy one. But Maestro Anderson's music has never failed to lift my spirits, and this has meant so very much to me.

How beautiful, how happy his music is, to be able to reach into a man's heart and give him hope, to remind him that there is joy to be found in the world, if one will only lift his eyes and look.

I wish I had written sooner, God Bless him and your family.

Sincerely,

I simply love Leroy Anderson music! It is simply lovely and creates a very happy and lively mood. My friend and I both love all the music composed by Leroy Anderson and we have also spread this lovely song to my other friends and they simply love it too! Thanks for creating such a web that helps the song of Leroy Anderson live in everyone's mind.

Hello,

I happened to see your website on Leroy Anderson today, and read through the Biography section.

I'm surprised to note that you have left out one use of Mr. Anderson's music by a news outlet. I recall that the ABC late news in New York City--it was called Eyewitness News--used Forgotten Dreams as its closing theme. I believe this was in the 1960's. I have always thought of a rainy night whenever I hear this piece, as that's what they were showing on the screen as the theme played.

I have been familiar with Mr. Anderson's music since childhood, and have always loved it. I also saw Goldilocks on Broadway and think the music is brilliant. "I never know when" is one of my favorite torch songs. I am very grateful to Leroy Anderson for the marvelous music he has given to us and to God for giving us Leroy Anderson!

Thank you for the website--it made my day.

I think this is my fourth commentary here in last few years, concerning one of my all time favorite composers. About 50 years after I put the first Decca album of Leroy Anderson on my turntable, and began many years of enjoyable listening, I have now downloaded his two CD set to my IPOD. Leroy Anderson meets the 21st century...and sounds as great as ever ! Also included the Telarc CD, American Piano Classics, which recorded his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in C. Maybe the original cast recording of "Goldilocks" is next.

So there on my IPOD now sit my favorite works by American composers; Leroy Anderson, George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Bernard Herrmann...and more to come. Incredible devices these IPODS, but takes some fiddling to get just right...amazing sound !!

My Dad who was born and raised in India, simply loved Leroy Anderson's music. His favorite, by far, was Blue Tango. He and my mom would listen to the radio everyday single day. And, sometimes, for my Dad's birthday she would send in a request for the radio station to play Blue Tango. This was in the 1960s. Growing up, one of our favorite records was the tango collection by the Alfred Hause orchestra. As soon as the song was played, one of us kids would run over to the record player, lift the hand and put it back to the beginning so that we could listen to Blue Tango again. We are grateful that Mr. Anderson used his God-given gifts to make this world a better place.

As a Woodbury, CT native, I was always proud that the Anderson family chose our little town. As a child I loved Syncopated Clock. On a personal note, I was a classmate of Rolf's at Mitchell Elementary. Good to see the music is being kept alive.

Would just like to convey my appreciation and love to the Anderson family for giving the world this beautiful man without whom the world would be a much sadder place. His genius and humour in his music is a breath of fresh air and brings a smile to my face - also a tear !

I attended a family concert yesterday and was completely taken by Bugler's Holiday. I've ordered a cd and am eager to share Leroy Anderson's music with my children.
