Everett, the Harvard Summer Pops Band will present an all-Anderson concert on the shores of the Charles River. As part of the Centennial kick-off, this very special afternoon highlights one of Anderson's earliest and most important endeavors, as he played in The Harvard Band when he attended the university and returned in the early 1930's as its director. Although Leroy was born in the United States, his father, Bror Anton Anderson, emigrated with his family from Övarp near Kristianstad in Skåne. Musicians and music lovers from the city were overwhelmed when they learned the Anderson family hailed from their region, and worked to create a variety of events dedicated to Leroy Anderson.
