This collection of music from Leroy Anderson's career is the first devoted solely to vocal editions of his music. Despite his reputation as a composer of light classical instrumentals, Anderson was responsible for a variety of songs with lyrics, thanks to his association with Mitchell Parish and the Goldilocks musical show.

Still, with the exception of Sleigh Ride, most people are unfamiliar with any vocal versions of his songs. To show evidence of a rarely seen side of his talents, we have also included two previously unpublished songs Anderson wrote in 1935, when he was about to embark on his association with Fiedler and the Boston Pops. These two songs, The Music in My Heart, and What's the Use of Love, show that not only were Anderson's melodic talents fully developed at the age of 27, but he was also equally adept at writing meaningful, evocative lyrics.

This edition includes 14 pages of photos and biographical information as well as material about lyricist Mitchell Parish, the Broadway show Goldilocks, and deatiled information about Blue Tango, Sleigh Ride and The Syncopated Clock.

In honor of Leroy Anderson's Centenary, his family is publishing all of his orchestral and band music, making these compositions available to schools and other institutions.
